IBA establishes Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance

IBA2On this Friday, Dr. Ishrat Husain Dean and Director of Institute of Business Administration (IBA) announced the establishment of the Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF) at the Institute. The prime objective is to overcome an acute shortage of trained human resource due to Islamic financial sector growing at an unprecedented rate.

The Centre will broadly perform activities that will cover: 1) Offering degree programs in Islamic Finance, 2) undertaking research and case studies for enhancing and disseminating knowledge about Islamic Finance, 3) Offering short term open and customized executive courses for the professionals working in the industry, 4) Collaborate with international players to assure introduction of best practices, governance and management and 5) Providing a platform for debate, discussion and discourse on the current issues, the future evolution of Islamic Finance. The Centre also intends to establish international linkages to make it a truly world class Centre for learning.

The Founding Board of Management of CEIF comprises of: 1) Dr. Ishrat Husain, Chairman CEIF, Irfan Siddiqui, CEO Meezan Bank, Hassan Bilgrami, CEO BankIslami, Shafqaat Ahmed, CEO Al Barakah Bank, Junaid Ahmed, CEO Dubai Islamic Bank, Dr. Imran Usmani, Shariah Advsior, Meezan Bank, Samar Hasnain, Executive Director, Development Finance Group, SBP and Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, Founding Director of CEIF.

The Centre won this prestigious opportunity after participation in a challenge competition organized by State bank of Pakistan (SBP) which is being financed under a program by DIFD.
